Run-DMC - “Here We Go” - Live at the Funhouse. Two turntables, two microphones. 1983. Jam Master Jay live on the mix with Billy Squier’s “Big Beat” (he does almost mess up pretty bad early in the song but recovers strong). I still love hearing Rev Run tell us exactly when he wrotes his rhymes. My first Run-DMC show was at a teen club in Buffalo called S.P.I.T. (special place in town - I know, right?). After a particularly insane bit of turntable wizardry, Jam Master Jay picks up the 12” record and casts it like a ninja star into the crowd, hitting an unsuspecting blonde chick square in the forehead drawing blood. The crowd bum rushes toward her, not to her aid, but to fight over getting the record. This and watching 10K people hold their Addidas up over their head screaming “My Addidas” at a show in Toronto are my fave Run-DMC memories. Shelltoes 4-eva.
Working away when this came up on ExtensionFM (and yes, I do think of it as a radio now). Love Run DMC
